# FAQ blocks

FAQ / Q&A blocks

**In short:** Add an ## FAQ section that answers the questions customers actually ask, each in a sentence or two with a link to the detail.

- Audit ID A7 (as shown on reports) · rubric v2.1

## What it checks

Whether the file includes question-and-answer blocks for common questions.

## Why it matters

Agents are answering questions. A good Q&A block hands them the answer in your words, ready to quote.

## When it applies

Always, for any llms.txt that exists.

An audit that doesn’t apply, or that we couldn’t verify, is removed from your score and its weight shared among the Agent Readiness audits that do apply. It is never scored as a zero.

## How it’s scored

1.0 when a ## section’s name contains the word “FAQ” or “FAQs”, or the phrase “frequently asked” (## FAQ, ## Product FAQs, ## Frequently asked questions) · 0.2 otherwise.

> **Measurement.** Today the heading stands in for the answers: how many questions you answer, and how well, isn’t read. When a model-judged review of the file exists (research runs; not live scans today), its score replaces the heading check. Scoring the count and quality of answers is planned.

## How to fix

1. Add an ## FAQ section with the questions customers actually ask.
2. Answer each in one or two sentences, and link the page with the detail.
3. Keep answers factual and current; date anything time-sensitive.

## Example

```
## FAQ
- How long do refunds take? 5–10 business days to the original card. [Details](https://acme.com/refunds.md)
```

## Frequently asked questions

### What heading should my FAQ section in llms.txt use?

Use an H2 whose name contains the word “FAQ” or the phrase “frequently asked”, such as `## FAQ` or `## Frequently asked questions`. The check matches “FAQ” or “FAQs” as a whole word (FAQs counts since 2026-09-29), so `## Common questions` does not count today.

### How is the FAQ blocks check scored?

Today a file with an H2 section named as an FAQ scores 1.0, and any other file scores 0.2. The rubric’s intended measure is the count and quality of answers; where a judged review of the file exists, its score replaces the heading check.

### How should I write the answers in an llms.txt FAQ?

Use the questions customers actually ask, and answer each in one or two factual sentences an agent can quote, then link the page with the detail. Date anything time-sensitive. Keep it short: llms.txt v2 wants the file small enough to fit in context, with detail behind the links.

### Does FAQPage markup on my site count for the FAQ blocks check?

No. The check reads only your llms.txt. Schema.org FAQPage markup on a web page is useful in its own right, but an agent reading llms.txt won’t see it unless the file carries the questions or links the page.

### In our research, how many llms.txt files have an FAQ section?

Very few. Of the 187 sites in our corpus (captured 2026-10-10, rubric v2.1), 7 files (3.7%) earned full marks and the mean score was 0.23. The other 180 all scored 0.2. Good examples include docs.apollo.io, lumen.com and ziprecruiter.com.
